    First Batch of Pioneer Projects of the Child Development Fund

    The Social Welfare Department is now inviting applications from interested organisations to operate the first batch pioneer projects of the Child Development Fund. The closing date is 30 June 2008. The applicant must be a charitable organisation registered under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap. 112) and with a good track record on the provision of children and youth services in Hong Kong in the past 5 years.     Workshop: Reducing Late-Life Depression and Providing Care for Family Caregivers of People with Dementia

    Themes of the Workshop With more than 30 years of practice and research experiences with clients from different ethnic back- grounds, the two invited scholars will share their knowledge about how to reduce late-life depression through cognitive behavior therapy and how to enhance mental health of family caregivers of people with dementia through psychosocial intervention. Local research efforts on identifying the sources of stress in dementia caregiving and on enhancing the knowledge and coping skills of family caregivers will also be shared. Participants are expected to work collaboratively to synthesize these international and local experiences for better care and caregiving.
